The airport in Yogyakarta was relocated in 2020. In this article, I will provide a detailed introduction to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), including access to the city, souvenirs, and restaurants.
Yogyakarta International Airport was newly established and relocated to the current Kulonprogo area on March 29, 2020.
The former Adisutjipto International Airport was located about 20-30 minutes from the city, but the new airport has moved to an area about an hour and a half away.
Souvenirs Available at the Airport
Bakpia Kukus
There is a Bakpia Kukus Tugu Jogja shop right after passing through the baggage check gate at the airport. It is now so famous that it competes for the top spot as a classic Yogyakarta souvenir.
The taste and texture are very similar to “Hagi no Tsuki,” and it’s a treat that Indonesians also enjoy.
Unfortunately, as of September 2023, the Concordia Lounge does not accept Priority Pass.
High-speed internet stations, check-in assistance, a separate smoking area, and a complimentary buffet are available.

It is still used for some flights (small aircraft such as Lion Air), but the number of flights has significantly decreased.
Access from Yogyakarta International Airport to the City Center
Generally, taking the train or using Grab is common (there are also shared buses), but the train is recommended. It opened in 2022 and is still clean, and at 40 minutes, it’s faster than a car or bus. (By car, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours).
However, the only downside is that the train runs infrequently, with only one train per hour.
