Have you ever seen this chocolate package in an Indonesian supermarket?

Oh! I see that chocolate often!
But I’ve been curious and have never tried it…

Well then, in this article,
I’d like to introduce you to this Chocolate Monggo in detail!
By the way, it’s a chocolate produced in Jogja.
What is Chocolate Monggo?
“Monggo” is a brand of chocolate often seen in Indonesia, but it’s a chocolate brand from Yogyakarta, with its factory located in Jogja.
This “Monggo” chocolate is a high-quality, slightly premium chocolate made with 100% cocoa butter.
Particularly recommended is the chocolate in the shape of a Borobudur stupa, as shown in the photo below, which is a souvenir that can be enjoyed for both its appearance and taste.

Chocolate Monggo began in 2001, when truffle chocolates were sold at a shop called “SunMor” near UGM (Gadjah Mada University).
The Chocolate Monggo brand itself was officially created in 2005.
In 2006, it faced difficulties due to a major disaster in Central Java, but from 2010, its recognition within Indonesia gradually increased, and it expanded in scale.
Monggo Chocolate Direct Sales Shop

There is a direct sales shop for the chocolate in the southern area of Yogyakarta.

Inside the shop, you’ll find the classic chocolate bars you see in supermarkets, as well as souvenir chocolates.
And the display case is lined with chocolates made at the factory.

By the way, they also sell gelato here.
You can also get drinks like coffee and light snacks like quiche.

The gelato here is highly recommended because they give you a huge serving!

They also had large, shoe-shaped chocolates for sale.

Since it’s a high-quality chocolate, it’s a bit pricey…
But they also have smaller-sized chocolate bars, so if you’re not sure what Indonesian or Yogyakarta souvenir to buy, buying a bunch of these chocolates is a good option.
