Just moved to Indonesia and in a new environment, do you ever find yourself suddenly craving the taste of home? The change in diet can be significant, and while Indonesian food is delicious, you might find yourself thinking, “Nothing beats Japanese food!”

No matter what, I still miss Japanese food…

For all of you living in Jakarta, especially around the Blok M area, I highly recommend “Tori Sei,” where you can enjoy authentic yakitori. It’s a yakitori restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere, like a hidden gem tucked away on a Japanese street corner. For Japanese residents in Jakarta, it’s truly an oasis.

Tori Sei’s Yakitori: The Exquisite Taste of Charcoal Grilling!
Tori Sei’s yakitori is renowned in Jakarta for offering an authentic taste of Japan. Using fresh chicken and grilling it slowly over charcoal brings out the maximum flavor of the meat. The fragrant aroma of the charcoal stimulates the appetite, and one bite releases a burst of juicy goodness into your mouth—a blissful experience… The seasoning is also exquisite, with a sweet and savory sauce that Japanese people love, further enhancing the flavor of the chicken.

There are no private rooms, but the tables are spaced far apart, allowing you to enjoy your meal without worrying about others. It’s a space where even women dining alone can feel at ease, so please feel free to drop by.

A rich selection of classic izakaya dishes, including sashimi, fried items, dishes that pair well with alcohol, and fresh offal. The chu-toro sashimi, which is popular in reviews, is also recommended.

Highly Rated in Reviews! Very Popular with Japanese Women
“Tori Sei” has received high ratings on Google Maps. Not only the taste but also the atmosphere of the restaurant and the service of the staff are highly praised. The signature “Tori Sei Yaki” is acclaimed by many.

I visited this restaurant for the first time, and the atmosphere inside was very nice, and the manners of the staff were impeccable. The karaage set had a taste that Japanese people would love, and it was very delicious. The Kyoho grape sour was also delicious, and I ended up having a second one even during the day. I will definitely come back.

The place was bustling with customers. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the service staff were very friendly. The entrance might seem a bit intimidating for a first-timer, but once you open the door, you’ll find it’s a very user-friendly place.

A very delicious izakaya in Blok M. I feel like it’s one of the places in Blok M with the most Japanese customers. The Torisei Yakitori, with thigh meat wrapped in skin, is an irresistibly delicious yakitori with a crispy yet juicy texture. The assorted grilled offal is also very delicious, with the flavor seeping out more as you chew. The sake-steamed clams are another one of my go-to dishes, with the delicious clam broth seeping out nicely.

I had been to Sushi Sei before, but this was my first time at Tori Sei. As the name suggests, I thought they must be confident in their yakitori. The spacious interior makes you forget you’re in Jakarta. The chu-toro sashimi was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The yakitori was delicious on a level not typical for Jakarta. I had several refills of the lemon sour. Blok M is far, but I think I’ll make the trip just for Tori Sei.

Revisited. While I wouldn’t say it’s on a completely different level of deliciousness, including the service, it’s top-level for Jakarta. Not only the yakitori but also the sushi is delicious. I feel that Tori Sei is more consistent and reliable than Tori-hachi. The Japanese female owner? is very attentive, and you can eat the liver with peace of mind. The lunch is also a good deal.
Conclusion: An Authentic Yakitori Experience in Jakarta!
When you’re craving delicious yakitori in Jakarta, be sure to visit “Tori Sei”! Not only do they have authentic charcoal-grilled yakitori, but they also have an extensive menu of other a la carte dishes and drinks, allowing you to spend time as if you were in Japan.
